ACTIVITIES
Wonderful restaurants (some of these
mentioned on the map), are located at the bottom of the hill, with
everything from the authentic Mexican dishes to fish, chicken,
steaks, and of course delicious drinks, and live music to enjoy at
local clubs.
If you choose to spend a quiet, relaxing
evening in your condo, you can practice your cooking skills in our
gourmet kitchen. There is a large town Supermarket in Zihuatanejo,
(much like a Super Walmart), named Comercial Mexicana, open from 8 –
10 daily. There you will find all you need for groceries, beach
extras, and even clothing.
La Ropa Beach
offers swimming,
boating, hobie cats to rent, fishing, parasailing, water skiing, and
banana boating. Night-time cruise boats available during certain
seasons.
Local tennis anyone? Just at the bottom
of the hill, the courts at the Hotel Villas del Sol can be rented
for a small amount. Fishing more your style? Zihuatanejo is famous
for bills, dorado, grouper, yellowfin tuna, bonito, barracuda, etc.
Nearby Activities:
Ixtapa (about 15 minutes North), can be
reached by taxi for a minimal amount, or for a few pesos, there are
buses (running frequently), from “centro” Zihua.
Large fishing boats for the serious
fishermen or women, or you may opt for a massage or beauty treatment
available at the large hotels, for women who prefer, while their men
catch those “HUGE” fish. Close by diving, swimming or snorkeling,
on Ixtapa Island, accessible by bus and water taxi for just a few
dollars.
If you prefer golf or tennis for your trip
to Ixtapa, Palma real Golf & Tennis, or Marina Ixtapa Golf Course
provide for your needs. Shops for unusual gifts or souvenirs in
Ixtapa also. Many delicious restaurants here, too!
Within the bay of Zihuatanejo, and also
within view, is Las Gatas Beach, (accessible by boat). This small
beach offers relaxation, swimming, and snorkeling in amazing clear
water.
Side
Trips
Although many come to Zihua, to rest and
relax, there are always the “restless” ones, those who always want
to be on the go, and in the center of action. No problem here.
Surfing beach more for you? Just a 40
minute ride to Troncones Beach is our favorite. For more
information go to:
www.manzanillobay.com. Surfboards and all supplies need to
catch that BIG wave.
Want to venture
further away? To the North, about a 3-˝ hour rental car drive
is an artsy, quaint little Mexican town called
Patzcuaro, in
the state of Michoacan. It’s filed with native crafts,
decors, and simply a delightful authentic Mexican town experience.
Prefer a bit larger
and lively? How about Acapulco? It’s about 150 miles
South, and a 4-hour trip on a 1st class bus, where you
can have the big city life, a COSTCO, more tourism, lively clubs,
and endless shopping for extravagant furnishings to bring home.
If you wish to take a
day trip, perhaps Barra de Potosi, to the immediate South is the
place for you. Here you can rent kayaks in the lagoon, and treat
yourself to the guided tours of inland waters. Bus service is
available for those who are interested in this activity.
Most visitors are so
enraptured with the atmosphere and ambiance of Zihua they choose to
spend most of their time nearby... it’s truly enchanting!
